If Europe has a capital of the lifestyle, it’s Cap d’Agde. Not a club, not a resort — an entire naturist village on the French Mediterranean coast where thousands of open-minded couples and singles converge every summer, and where in August the whole thing hits full volume.
For a visitor, that’s the appeal and the challenge: everything is here, but nobody hands you a map. This is the guide we’d give a couple flying in for the first time.
What Cap d’Agde actually is
Understand this first and everything else makes sense: the naturist village is a self-contained quarter of Cap d’Agde, with its own beach, apartments, supermarkets, shops, restaurants, bars and clubs. Nudity is normal, and the lifestyle is lived in daylight rather than hidden behind a members’ door.
That’s the crucial difference from anywhere else in Europe. You don’t need to find the scene here — you’re staying inside it. Walk out of your apartment in the morning and you’re already in it.
One thing worth being clear about: naturist and libertine are two overlapping but distinct crowds. Plenty of families and pure naturists holiday here too. The lifestyle side has its own venues, its own areas and its own hours — mostly from late afternoon onwards.
Getting there
Easier than you’d think:
- Béziers–Cap d’Agde airport is the closest, about 15 km away — taxi or summer shuttle and you’re there in minutes.
- Montpellier airport has far more routes. Taxi is around an hour (roughly €160); cheaper is the airport bus to Montpellier station, train to Agde, then a local bus or short taxi.
- By train, the TGV stops at Agde. From the station it’s about a 10-minute taxi, or a local bus that stops at the village entrance for a couple of euros.
- By car it’s simple, and honestly the most convenient way to do the village.
Where to stay: inside the village
This is the single most important decision of your trip. Stay inside the naturist village. Book a hotel in Cap d’Agde “town” and you’ll spend the week commuting to the party and missing the entire point.
The village is built around Héliopolis, the vast complex at its heart, with apartment blocks and residences spreading out through Port Nature and Port Ambonne, rented by the week through local naturist agencies.
The best-known resorts inside the village are Le Jardin de Babylone (3 Rue des Néréides) and Le Jardin d’Eden — the latter is the private pool club with the pink-tiled pool right at the heart of the Héliopolis complex. Both are couples-oriented and built around their own pools. Babylone is the one with a full published event calendar for the season, so if you want the party on your doorstep, that’s the safe bet.
If you’d rather have a hotel than a weekly apartment, Oz’Inn Hôtel & Spa (7 rue des Néréides) is the upmarket choice: an adults-only design hotel with 34 rooms and suites, hammam, a large hot tub, a rooftop solarium terrace and two bars, about 300 m from the beach.
The newest arrival is Vibes Resort, delivered in May 2026 and already the village’s new landmark — you’ll spot it on the way in, at the Bagnas roundabout that serves as the gateway to the village, with its wave-shaped architecture. It’s the luxury end: apartments from studios to duplexes with design interiors and secure private parking, and a panoramic rooftop with a 32°C pool, jacuzzis and the Vibes Lounge bar-restaurant, which only opened on 2 July 2026. Shops and restaurants are five minutes away on foot, the naturist beach about ten.
There’s also a large naturist campsite for those who prefer it.
Book early for August. Not “a few weeks early” — early.
The rhythm of a day
Cap d’Agde has a routine, and once you’re in it the week disappears:
- Morning to afternoon — the beach. Sun, sea, and the long walk along the sand that is itself half the social life.
- Afternoon — the beach clubs and pool parties kick off, roughly from 2pm.
- Early evening — the piazzetta at Port Nature: the village’s social heart, with small restaurants, shops and bars. This is where everyone drifts before the night starts.
- Night — the clubs, from around 11pm until very late.
- Then — the terraces, and the dune.
The beach and the day clubs
Le Glamour Beach (1 Bd des Matelots) is the day club of the village: Pool & Mousse parties every afternoon, 2pm–7pm, June to September. Infinity pool, jacuzzi, dance floor and over 2,000 litres of foam a day. Entry from around €25 a couple, €50 with a sunbed package. Daytime dress code is beach-libertine: minimal or nothing.
Manna Beach (Plage d’Ambonne, Boulevard des Matelots) is the village’s private beach with a bar and restaurant — sunbeds and day beds to rent, cocktails and a proper menu, open 9am to 9pm through the summer. The gentler half of the day.
Waiki Beach is restaurant, bar and pool in one, with a two-level terrace looking onto the Port Nature piazzetta — the natural meeting point that runs from lunch through to late.
The dune — the famous “plage des cochons” — is Cap d’Agde’s most talked-about landmark: the stretch of beach and dunes beyond the naturist sands, known across Europe for open-air sensuality — exhibitionism, voyeurism and encounters, especially at sunset and after dark. It’s free, it’s not a club, and it’s the wildest side of the village. Which is exactly why the rules matter more here than anywhere: nothing without consent, no contact without a clear invitation, respect for people who are only walking or watching, and awareness that it’s still a public space. Iconic, but not for everyone — go in with your eyes open.
The bars
Melrose Café is the village’s historic libertine bar and an institution among regulars — couples only, intimate and complicit.
Eros Café, also couples only, is the louder one: eclectic music from dance to electro to alternative rock, a big bar, a dance floor and regular sensual shows. One of the beating hearts of the village at night.
The clubs
Le Glamour Club (1 Boulevard des Matelots) is the temple: widely called the biggest libertine club in Europe, drawing close to a thousand people a night in high season. Themed nights every night from May to September, resident DJs, dance floor, private lounges. Indicative prices: couples €60 (2 drinks) or €70 (4 drinks), single women €20, single men €110. August’s signature is the White Party — total white dress code.
Club Tantra stands out for one thing that matters here: it admits couples and single men every night, which most other venues don’t. That shapes the crowd and the atmosphere — mixed and intense, and not the gentlest place to start. 300 m² with an outdoor bar and canopy beds.
Clair-Obscur is the village’s BDSM venue. Le Plug&Play is younger and more festive. QACK is a gay & hetero-friendly libertine club, open and label-free.
Le Jardin de Babylone is a couples-only naturist residence that runs pool events (see below).
The saunas
Le Kamasutra is the village’s “prestige” libertine sauna, with a naturist pool and well-kept spaces. Histoire d’Ô welcomes both couples and singles. Good for the slower, more sensual side of the week.
Handy to know: the venues cluster around Port Nature, Port Ambonne and Boulevard des Matelots — close enough to walk between several in one night.
August events
At Le Jardin de Babylone, August runs on two formats plus themed nights:
- Pool Party, 12:30–18:00: DJs, nudity required around the pool, no booking needed, €35 a couple including two drinks. Dates: 5, 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, 28 August.
- Full Moon, 21:00–01:00: a fluo night, optional fluo dress code, €40 a couple including two drinks. Dates: 1, 8, 15 August.
- Themed nights: Black is Beautiful, Viking, Koh Lanta, Cyber Colors, White Party, Afro.
At the Glamour, the rhythm is daily: Pool & Mousse every afternoon at the Beach, a themed night every night at the Club, with the White Party as August’s headline.
Programmes change and the best nights fill up — check the venues’ own channels before you go.
The house parties on the terraces
Here’s what most first-timers miss. The real soul of Cap d’Agde isn’t only in the clubs — it’s in the apartments. Couples rent for the week and host private parties on their terraces, around pools, in open apartments. The terraces of Port Nature in particular, facing each other across the walkways, are where a lot of it happens: they invite exactly the kind of glances and invitations the village runs on.
How do you get in? The same way as everywhere: you get invited. Be around, be sociable on the beach and at the piazzetta, be polite, don’t push. A friendly, respectful couple finds doors opening surprisingly fast here.
Peak week: mid-August
The middle of August is the absolute peak — the village is full, the beach is packed, the venues are at capacity, and half of Europe is on holiday at the same time. In 2026 the 15th falls on a Saturday, which means Full Moon night at Le Jardin de Babylone, while the Glamour’s themed nights roll on with the White Party as the month’s emblem.
It’s the most electric time to experience it and the most crowded. If you’re aiming for that week, book accommodation far in advance — mid-August in Cap d’Agde is not something you improvise.
Practical notes
- Dress codes flip by time of day: minimal or nude by day, properly dressed and smart for the clubs at night.
- You pay to get into the village. Access needs a card, bought at the Bureau d’Accueil on the Bagnas roundabout as you arrive. For 2026 it starts at €16.50 for 1–3 days (on foot or by car, with a valid rental contract); season passes are €120 on foot and €230 by car. Bring ID. Cash, card and cheque all accepted.
- Day cards allow one entry only — entry between 8am and 8pm, and once you leave, that’s it for the day. Worth knowing before you pop out for something you forgot.
- No phones or photos inside venues and on the dune. Privacy is the one rule nobody forgives.
- Decide as a couple before you go what you’re looking for: beach and pool parties only? Clubs? House parties? The village will happily give you all three, and it’s easier if you’ve agreed in advance.
Cap d’Agde in August is the one place in Europe where the lifestyle stops being a secret and simply becomes a holiday. Sun by day, foam and music by night, and a kind of freedom that’s rare anywhere else.
